As a church we believe that the gospel, God’s good news through Jesus, is about more than just personal salvation – essential though that is! Through the life of every Christian the gospel is designed to have a positive effect on the world we live in and to be a blessing to all people. Once we’ve understood God’s grace for ourselves we naturally want to share it with other people, and show God’s love to them, especially to those in need. The Bible tells us that our personal faith should result in us doing good works – GraceWorks.
Jesus said this: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.” (Luke 4:18-19) Jesus’ message is good news to the poor!
As Jesus’ followers we are involved with many different ministries and projects that aim to bring help to those in need. Some of these we do corporately as a church, some of them we do in partnership with other churches or agencies and some of them are done by our church members as individuals. There are too many different things being done by members of Grace Church to list them all, but we have brought some of these together here under the title ‘GraceWorks’.
We don’t do these ‘GraceWorks’ in order to earn God’s favour; we believe that he gives us that for free through faith in Jesus. We do ‘GraceWorks’ as the natural outworking of our relationship with Jesus – Christianity is a living faith that results in life changing actions.
This part of our website is designed to help you explore some of the GraceWorks we are involved in as a church and to enable you to find ways to get connected to them through volunteering, praying or giving. What ‘GraceWorks’ is God calling you to do?
